Faith Carlson specializes in the treatment of eating disorders with extensive training through the International Association of Eating Disorders Professionals Certification Program (CEDS). She has years of experience providing psychotherapy to people of diverse backgrounds and is an Ambassador with the Eating Disorder Coalition. Her training has been quite extensive and spanned a variety of settings, including outpatient mental health clinics, hospitals, non-profit community counseling, and private practice. Ms. Carlson has provided extensive training, consultation and teaching services to physicians, colleges and other mental health professionals.
Ms. Carlson has focused her clinical work primarily on the assessment and treatment of eating disorders including anorexia, bulimia, ARFID, and binge eating diagnosis. Ms. Carlson collaborates closely with specialized and trained eating disorder dietitians across the United States who are qualified and certified with eating disorder certifications.*

In 2024, Ms. Carlson obtained her Certified Eating Disorder Certification (CEDS) as South Dakota’s first professional to be certified through the International Association of Eating Disorders Professionals in the state. This requires a minimum 2500 supervised patient care hours directly in the field of eating disorders. All patient care hours must be supervised by an iaedp™-Approved Supervisor with intensive requirements for credentialed professionals who specialize in the treatment of eating disorders. The Four Core Courses required are the following: 1. Overview of Eating Disorders 2. Therapeutic Treatments for Eating Disorders 3. Nutrition Therapy for Eating Disorders 4. Medical Treatment of Eating Disorders. All these are required to take and pass the Certification Exam, plus comprehensive training in the latest treatments and research, ensuring you’re equipped to provide the best possible care.
Ms. Carlson’s professional affiliations include the International Association of Eating Disorder Professionals (IAEDP), the Eating Disorder Coalition (EDC) and the Academy for Eating Disorders (AED). Ms. Carlson also prescribes to Health At Every Size (HAES)*
